Peterborough to implement Ascribe Web Pharmacy & eMedicines Management

Jan 25th 2010 - Ascribe is pleased to announce that it has received an order from Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for Ascribe's web-based Pharmacy Clinical IT system and Ascribe's electronic Medicine's Management (eMM) system.

The Trust has previously used an older version of Ascribe's Pharmacy system, and purchased this new technology to enable the Pharmacy department to extend their services into hospital wards using Ascribe's eMM. Peterborough's new City Hospital, which is due to open in October/November 2010, will use this new technology which helps to improve patient safety at ward-level.

Ascribe's web-pharmacy system is a robust and configurable solution that provides a seamless flow of information between prescribing, pharmacy and site administration processes, including stock management and finance, ensuring that all professionals involved have the necessary information with real-time decision support.

It can be applied to a department's current environment and still provides support for future changes in working processes. The web based Ascribe Pharmacy application is built upon SQL server architecture, allowing access from anywhere within the hospital or via the internet with the appropriate security user ID and password.

Research has shown that medication interactions are a significant factor in the reported increase in additional risks to patient safety. An effective medicines management system must deliver more than just a leading stock management solution; it must be able to integrate with a variety of dispensing and prescribing processes, provide heightened levels of decision support at the 'point of care' and ultimately, address the complex issues of patient safety. Ascribe's eMM is delivered through a customised installation process that is designed to meet each site's specific requirements.
