Feb 22nd 2010 - Ascribe is pleased to announce that it has received an order from Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust ("IW NHS PCT") to implement Ascribe Symphony into their Emergency Department. As part of the project, Ascribe has signed a five year support agreement and will also provide interfaces to the Trust's iSOFTTM PAS system (Clinicom) and AdastraTM, their health centre's patient management; this will ensure seamless care in line with the IW NHS PCT's vision of a single point of access for unscheduled care. All patients arriving at the IW NHS PCT Health Centre and Emergency Department will be registered onto Symphony which will then forward their data to the appropriate department and system.
The Isle of Wight's Emergency Department currently sees around 37,000 patients per annum. It is staffed by 3 Consultants in Emergency Medicine and supported by a number of middle grades, juniors and ENPs.
Ascribe Symphony is a Microsoft WindowsTM based Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system designed to improve patient healthcare by providing clinicians and clerical staff with a comprehensive clinical information access & retrieval IT solution. Ascribe Symphony is locally configurable and allows real-time monitoring against national standards, enabling users to measure improvements against key performance standards. The system can operate either on a stand-alone basis or it can be integrated into existing computer systems. Symphony allows departments to monitor patient's progress, allocate resources and track performance targets. Symphony is installed in Emergency Departments in the UK, the Republic of Ireland and Australia. Over 20 million patients in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Asia Pacific have been registered on Symphony.
Healthcare on the Isle of Wight is provided by the Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust. The Isle of Wight PCT is unique because as well as being the commissioner of healthcare on the island, it is also the main provider of care. The Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust employs approximately 3,000 staff, is committed to personal development and has strong links with Southampton and Bournemouth Universities. The resident population of the Island is approximately 138,500 - this figure doubles in the holiday season with the Island receiving approximately 2.8 million visitors each year.
